Ljubljana to Salzburg

Train day from Ljubljana to Salzburg with a stop in Villach.

There was a long delay waiting for the train to arrive into Ljubljana, so already I knew I would not make connection in Villach.  This was perfect as it was just enough time to get lunch in Villach and see the high street before getting back to the station.   I couldn’t really go too far since I had my big bag with me, but still a nice stop.

Beautiful train through Austria and the mountains, extremely comfortable and easy train ride.  Then only a few block’s walk to the apartment and then a few hours of exploring.  I managed to see the entire old town and major sites within it before end of day.

Notice the last picture – it took me a while to understand because it always looked to me like “Watch for the pedestrian with a machine gun.”   But I think it meant watch for the blind pedestrians. . .  If you push the button on the box, maybe it makes noise to tell you when to cross?   I never tried it.
